Cronology[]

  • Golden Age: It's the initial era of the publisher, and it lasted from 1939 until 1960. This era is known for heroes like the original Flash (Jay Garrick) and the original Green Lantern (Alan Scott, as well as the Justice Society of America.
  • Silver Age: The beginning of the new generation of heroes, featuring a new Flash and Green Lantern, and their group known as Justice League. This era lasted from 1960 until 1970.
  • Bronze Age: This era started in 1970 and ended in 1985-86 at the "Crisis on Infinite Earths" event. This era is known for the development of more humane personalities in its characters. The Green Lantern/Green Arrow stage is one of the best known at the time, for example.
  • Dark Era: Also known as the classic "Post-Crisis" (referring to the post-COIE phase), it was the era where some heroes received a full reboot in their chronology and had their stories retold from scratch. This era is known for having more dramatic stories, like "The Death of Superman" and "Twilight Emerald". At the end of that era, the publisher ended up replacing some of it's main heroes with new ones. Green Lantern was now Kyle Rayner, Green Arrow was now Connor Hawke (Oliver Queen's son) and the Flash, an Wally West faster than in the previous era, became a member of the LJA after Barry Allen.
  • Modern Era: Beginning around 2003, the heroes of the past return to their place. Hal Jordan and Oliver Queen finally come back to life, and then the stories start to take on a fresher air. This is the era with the most famous and well-constructed stories of the publisher.
